Position Summary
The Two-Year-Old Preschool Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that supports the developmental needs of children ages two and three. The teacher will foster independence, encourage social-emotional growth, support potty training readiness, and provide meaningful academic experiences through play-based learning and developmentally appropriate practices.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or currently enrolled in an ECE-related program.
- Ability to pass an ECECD background check.
- Experience working with two-year-olds and/or three-year-olds in a licensed childcare center or preschool setting.
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate practices for toddlers and preschool-aged children.
- Ability to create and implement engaging lesson plans that incorporate academic, social-emotional learning, and hands-on exploration.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of toddler and preschool development.
- Ability to work collaboratively with families, staff, and administration.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Responsible for knowledge of New Mexico State Licensing requirements regarding childcare code.
- The knowledge and ability to use computers and related technology efficiently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Establish consistent routines and schedules that support children's sense of security and independence.
- Create engaging learning centers that encourage exploration, creativity, and problem-solving.
- Foster positive relationships with children through responsive and nurturing interactions.
- Teach and model appropriate social skills, including sharing, taking turns, problem-solving, and emotional regulation.
- Support children in developing self-confidence, empathy, and independence.
- Guide children through conflicts using positive behavior support strategies.
Potty Training and Self-Help Skills
- Support children and families through the potty-training process using consistency, encouragement, and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Recognize signs of readiness and communicate progress with families.
- Encourage self-help skills such as handwashing, dressing, feeding, cleaning up, and caring for personal belongings.
- Promote independence while providing appropriate assistance when needed.
Curriculum and Academics
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that support:
- Early literacy and language development
- Early math concepts
- Science exploration
- Creative arts
- Fine and gross motor development
- Christian curriculum
- Incorporate academics through hands-on learning experiences, play, songs, stories, and sensory activities.
- Observe and document children's progress and developmental milestones.
- Lead active and engaging circle times that capture children's attention through movement, music, stories, and interactive discussions.
- Adapt group activities to meet the developmental needs and attention spans of young children.
- Encourage participation while creating an inclusive environment for all learners.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, bend, kneel, and actively engage with young children throughout the day.
- Ability to lift and carry children and classroom materials as needed, 50lb minimum.
Pay: $19.00 - $26.00 per hour
