Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)
Job Type: Travel Contract
Shift: Day Shift | 3x12-Hour | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM ( Both days and Nights shifts available)
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Gross Weekly Range - $2500 - $2600
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) for a travel assignment. This position requires strong recent L&D experience, high-risk obstetrical care skills, and the ability to float between Labor & Delivery and High-Risk Perinatal units.
Schedule & Requirements
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM ( Also night shift available)
- 3x12-hour schedule
- Every other weekend required
- No blocked scheduling — must have open availability
- Floating between High-Risk Perinatal and Labor & Delivery required
- Patient ratio: approximately 1:2
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- NC or Compact RN licensemust be active and in hand
- BLS required
- ACLS required
- NRP required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Supervisory/charge experience preferred
Clinical Experience
The ideal candidate should be experienced with:
- High-risk and low-risk labor and delivery
- Antepartum and postpartum care
- High-risk pregnancy management
- Vaginal deliveries
- Cesarean sections and circulating C-sections
- D&C, D&E, cerclage, and other OB procedures
- Recovery/PACU care following OB procedures
- Epidural management
- Inductions and spontaneous labor
- Fetal monitoring and interpretation of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Magnesium sulfate and insulin drips
- PCA pumps and IV medications
- Postpartum hemorrhage management
- Blood and blood product administration
- Jada and Bakri balloon systems
- Pre-eclampsia/eclampsia and HELLP syndrome
- PPROM and placenta previa
- Preterm labor
- VBAC management
- Multiple births and multiple gestations
- Newborn assessment and stabilization
- Neonatal resuscitation
- Newborn hypoglycemia
- APGAR scoring
- Couplet care
- Breastfeeding and lactation support
- Maternal and newborn safety protocols
- Obstetrical triage
Unit Environment
This assignment supports both Labor & Delivery and a High-Risk Perinatal Unit.
Labor & Delivery includes:
- High- and low-risk obstetrical patients
- Approximately 350–450 deliveries per month
- High-risk deliveries
- Inductions and spontaneous labor
- Epidural management
- Magnesium and insulin infusions
- Cesarean delivery
- D&C/D&E and cerclage procedures
- OB recovery/PACU care
- Hemorrhage management and transfusions
High-Risk Perinatal Unit includes:
- Antepartum patients
- PPROM
- Placenta previa
- High-risk postpartum patients
- Magnesium therapy
- Couplet care
- High-acuity maternal patients
Technology & Equipment
- EPIC electronic medical record
- Obix fetal monitoring
- Alaris IV pumps with PCA
- Omnicell medication system
Patient Population
