This is clerical, customer support and semi-skilled service maintenance work in performing manual labor tasks in the upkeep and repair of public parks grounds. Work requires knowledge of uninvolved standardized work routines used in maintaining park facilities which involves the use of common equipment or uncomplicated machinery, and in performing basic clerical work. Contacts require courtesy, tact, and effectiveness in dealing with others to request or provide information, ask questions, or obtain clarification. The work is routine following established routines, standing instructions, and established procedures, but some variation in the sequence of procedures used is permitted based on situations encountered in the workplace. Duties at the park are in a fast-paced environment requiring strong multi-tasking skills. Operates standard office equipment such as telephones, motor vehicles, personal computers, cash register, credit card machine, assortment of machinery and tools, such as chain saws and backhoes. The work is performed in both office and field environment where there are some risks and hazards, but they are known, predictable and controllable. The physical demands involve light to moderate physical activity which may include lifting of concrete sand or lime rock, or moving objects, such as fallen trees, weighing more than 50 pounds. The work is performed under general supervision where the work assignments are varied and, although subject to standard practices and procedures, the worker is permitted some latitude to set their own priorities subject to superior’s approval.
OPEN REQUIREMENTS:

One year’s combination of education and/or experience in cash handling and customer service is required.

One year of experience in park operations, ecology, natural resource management, general maintenance is preferred.

Must be able to perform manual labor, read, write, and communicate in English.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:-
The probationary period for this class is six (6) months.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:-
A valid driver’s license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained.

Must qualify for prior to appointment, obtain, and maintain during employment in this class a City of Jacksonville Certification as a Public Driver.

Must obtain and maintain CPR/AED certification within six (6) months of hire.
