The Service Technician’s primary function is to assemble, install, operate, troubleshoot and repair one or more H.G.Weber & Co., Inc. product lines, assemble, test and troubleshoot component modules, lead and instruct customers on the proper usage and repair. Travel an estimated 30% domestically and/or internationally, based on training and qualifications. These positions are responsible for the highest level of craftsmanship involved in the manufacturing processes of Weber.
Education and/or Experience
Understanding of assembly practices, techniques and skills required to troubleshoot machine problems.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Advanced mechanical knowledge.
Previous Electro Mechanical experience and/or Electro Mechanical Associate degree.
The various levels of Service Technician and job requirements are listed below:
FST T
1. Plan and perform a variety of assembly, testing and adjustments on machine assemblies with primary emphasis on the electro-mechanical systems.
2. Assist and guide the installation, adjustment and repair of finished equipment at customers’ location.
3. Communicate with appropriate company employees regarding product problems to facilitate problem resolution.
4. Complete all required records and documentation for customers and for the company including identifying all missing parts on the digital white board and engineering issues in the engineering tracker.
5. Apply all safety practices and procedures of the trade and Weber standards.
FST 1
6. Basic controls programming and trouble shooting of electro-mechanical systems
7. Self-direct assembly based on reading blueprint
8. Travel as a “helper” on install and service trips.
9. Set up and run printing presses without assistance.
10. Understand bag terminology and ability to measure bag dim’s appropriately and can identify all machine components.
11. Exemplify project management skills.
12. Proficient in the use various gauges, meters, and electrical testing equipment to check specifications.
FST 2
13. Instruct customer personnel (and co-workers) on proper operation of equipment.
14. Monitor erection and installation of equipment to ensure that company guidelines and tolerances have been met.
15. Determine the acceptance of equipment erection.
16. Ability to mount printing plates and troubleshoot printing press issues.
17. Write weekly test reports.
18. Use multi meter and volt meter to diagnose issues.
19. Travel as a lead on new installs and service trips.
20. Train and mentor new field service technicians.
FST 3
21. Ability to install or service machines with three or more Weber products.
22. Lead installs on large single size or variable size machines.
23. Complete clear and concise test reports.
24. Travel independently internationally on installs and service trips.
FST 4
25. Provide technical support to customers over the telephone, addressing and resolving questions and problems.
26. Ability to interface with customers effectively (phone/email) in technical support situations.
27. Ability to make recommendations for formal quoting through Service for customers.
28. Ability to train and mentor on three or more H.G.Weber & Co., Inc. product lines in both mechanical and electrical.
FST 5
29. Service all company products at customer sites; testing, troubleshooting and adjusting as needed.
30. Remain technically competent and keep current in new developments within the industry.
31. Travel 30% of the time.
Participate in the research and development of new products.
