Housing Navigator works closely with the Veterans Administration (VA) programs and personnel to ensure all Veterans enrolled under the NOFO grant have their housing goals, plans and needs addressed. This position is responsible for communicating and negotiating with landlords as well as coordinating housing tours, initial habitability inspections, lease assistance, landlord payments, and other specialized activities to assist eligible Veteran households into safe, affordable housing options. This role supports the Housing Coordinator in building and maintaining relationships with property owners willing to provide emergency and/or permanent housing to clients of Volunteers of America Ohio and Indiana's Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF) program. This position works with ONLY Veterans that are enrolled in both SSVF and NOFO Supplemental Grant. In addition to activities that build relationships with prospective landlords, this position will conduct tasks necessary for the selection of a rental unit by clients; specifically, touring inventory, lease negotiation, and pre-move-in inspection of units. The Housing Coordinator will work with case management to facilitate resolution of issues between landlord and client during tenancy, including maintenance disagreements or non-compliance with lease agreements.

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent from four-year college or technical school preferred and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience negotiating contracts, lease terms, and agreements, strongly preferred. CPR and first aid certification must be obtained within 60 days of position start and must be maintained. A valid Driver's License is required.
