Triangle Arthritis & Rheumatology Associates is a well-established, physician-owned rheumatology practice dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to patients throughout the Triangle. We are seeking an organized, compassionate, and customer-focused Patient Access Coordinator & New Patient Coordinator to become an integral member of our front office team.
This position serves as the first point of contact for many of our patients and plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless patient experience—from the initial referral through check-in and appointment scheduling. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to delivering exceptional customer service.
Position Responsibilities
Patient Access
- Welcome patients with professionalism, warmth, and compassion.
- Check patients in and out for appointments.
- Verify and update demographic and insurance information.
- Collect copayments, balances, and required documentation.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and assist patients with scheduling and general inquiries.
- Maintain patient confidentiality while providing excellent customer service.
- Assist with daily front office operations and administrative responsibilities.
- Ensure an efficient patient flow while maintaining a positive patient experience.
New Patient Coordination
- Schedule new patient appointments according to provider protocols and clinical guidelines.
- Educate patients on appointment expectations, paperwork requirements, and practice policies.
- Maintain accurate referral tracking and scheduling records.
- Work collaboratively with providers, medical assistants, and administrative staff to ensure timely patient access to care.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of medical office experience preferred.
- Experience with patient registration, referrals, scheduling, or patient access strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical insurance verification and referral processes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a busy specialty practice.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (NextGen experience is preferred but not required).
- Strong computer and telephone skills.
