Duties
- Select, trim, and cut various types of meats with precision using professional knife skills and cutting equipment
- Prepare meat products according to established recipes, specifications, and safety standards
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations in accordance with food safety sanitizing procedures
- Assist in menu planning by providing input on meat selections and portion sizes for different meal offerings
- Support high-volume production environments by efficiently processing large quantities of meat for retail or food service use
- Ensure proper food handling techniques are followed during all stages of meat preparation to prevent contamination
- Collaborate with culinary teams to support food preparation activities such as braising, poaching, grilling, and other cooking methods
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is highly desirable
- Strong knife skills and experience with fine dining or restaurant food preparation preferred
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and sanitizing procedures required
- Experience in menu planning, catering, or high-volume food production is a plus
- Familiarity with various cooking techniques including braising, poaching, grilling, and general food handling
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments
- Prior kitchen experience within the food industry or culinary setting is advantageous
