We are searching for a Truck Driver/Donation Collection Specialist to join the ReStore team with Habitat for Humanity of Catawba Valley. Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the Truck Driver/Donation Collection Specialist is responsible for picking up donations and ensuring delivery to the ReStore. Also responsible for providing excellent customer service when interacting with donors. While at the store, you will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of warehouse duties under the direction of the warehouse supervisor.
Work schedule: Tuesday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM; Saturday, 9:00 AM–5:30 PM
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Drive company trucks to donor locations to pick-up donations, transport, and deliver them to ReStore
- Operate 2- and 4-wheel dollies and associated moving equipment to collect and deliver oversized pieces of furniture and equipment
- Interact with donors in a courteous and respectful manner and provide them receipt records
- Unload trucks at warehouse and handle donations with care
- Maintain sense of urgency when performing job tasks to prevent backups and chaos in the delivery area
- Keep work area in an orderly manner and maintain cleanliness and proper usage of company equipment
- Perform the functions of the role with in the established ReStore standards and guidelines
- Maintaining truck service and licenses as well as inspections for proper on road operations
- Attend company and department meetings/events as required
- Assist in all functions of the warehouse: accepting donations, bringing sold items to customers, cleaning, pricing, staging the sales for floor, and other tasks assigned by the warehouse supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Driver’s License
- 1 + years of experience driving a 16-foot or larger box truck
- Ability and willingness to lift up to 40+ pounds on a regular basis
- Ability to safely operate common hand and power tools
- Dependable—regular, on-time attendance required.
- Ability to represent and be a positive ambassador for Habitat Catawba Valley when entering donors’ homes and while working at the ReStore
- Commitment to the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity of Catawba Valley
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to defuse challenging situations with tact
- Effective interpersonal skills in a diverse environment; good listening and empathy
- Previous retail/customer service experience (helpful)
- Self-starter with a positive, proactive approach
- Attention to detail and ability to think on your feet
- Multi-tasking and practical problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations (e.g., inclement weather conditions)
- High school diploma or equivalent
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Majority of work performed in a warehouse environment; will involve exposure to noise, dust, and variable temperatures.
- Stand or walk for much of a workday, including working on uneven surfaces
- Physical mobility required, including reaching, lifting/carrying (up to 40+ lbs), pushing/pulling, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, and occasional prolonged standing and arm/leg extension.
- Move safely and efficiently throughout the warehouse.
- Assemble and disassemble furniture using basic tools
- Operate company equipment in a safe manner
ReStore Catawba Valley is a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, home accessories, appliances and more to the public at a fraction of the retail price. All proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity of Catawba Valley.
