AdvantaStaff is looking to hire a Ballistic Technicians for the Manufacturing/Research & Development in the Petersburg area at $21 - 23 per hour. This is a temp to perm position with benefits including health insurance, paid time off, and more once eligibility requirements are met. US Military Veterans are encouraged to apply!
Pay:
$21 - 23 per hour (based on experience)
4pm-12am/Monday-Friday
Shift hours could vary
Train 7am-330pm/Monday-Friday(2-6 weeks)
Job Qualifications:
- High School degree
- 3-5 years’ experience in Quality Control, Ballistics, or Military
- A.S./B.S. in Science/Technology field in lieu of experience accepted
- Strong familiarity with computer assisted tools and techniques.
- Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Evidence of mechanical aptitude
- Must be detailed oriented and possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal skills
- Excellent computer skills including reporting, spreadsheets, database, and ability to learn a variety of software packages
- Must be able to work in an autonomous environment
- Ability to work extended hours as needed
Job Duties:
- Cut/Assemble/ Prep Ballistic Material into specified patters using a variety of equipment including but not limited to cutting tables, presses, sewing machines, heat seal, environmental chambers, digital scales and hand tools.
Assemble and prepare ballistic samples for testing
- Prepare and maintain supplies used for ballistic testing
- Enter test data into database, prepare test reports, maintain schedule as needed
- Maintain accurate records to ensure product and process traceability
- Communicate on an as needed basis with development engineers to ensure trials are conducted accurately
- Take ownership equipment to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment
- Assist in periodic review and update of standards and procedures
- Recommend process improvements to achieve higher levels of success for delivering quality results on predictable timelines to meet overall business objectives.
- Adhere to all quality, safety standards, all company policies and operational procedures.
- Maintain clean and organized work area with emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency and utilization

- Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
- Climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively
- Normal lifting requirements are 50lbs
- Operate moving equipment
- Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped environments
- Willing to work in heights
- Candidate required to pass a drug test and criminal background check
- Steel toe shoes required
