Recycling Specialty Equipment Operator
HIRING RANGE: $26.70 - $30.05 HOURLY
About the Position:
The Recycling Specialty Equipment Operator will operate a side-load recycling collection truck; collect, sort, decontaminate, and transfer recyclable materials from customer locations to facility; operate other specialized maintenance and recycling equipment to include forklifts, hand tools, skid steers; process recyclable material at facility. Operate a recycling collection pick-up truck; collect, sort, decontaminate, and transfer recyclable materials from customer locations to facility receptacles and/or areas; collect and deliver plastic containers/totes; provide public with information regarding recycle collection process. Perform safety inspections, maintenance, and repairs on equipment.
About the Recycling Division:
The City of Grand Junction Recycling Division provides collection of recyclable material to residential customers within the city limits and also operates a manned drop off open to the public six days a week. Our department takes pride in its work and believes that customer service, along with education to the public is a top priority for our team members.
What You'll Do:
- Operate a recycling collection truck; collect, sort, decontaminate, and transfer recyclable materials from customer locations to facility receptacles and/or areas; collect and deliver plastic containers/totes; provide the public with information regarding the recycling collection process.
- Operate various equipment, including forklifts, hand tools, skid steers, and other specialized maintenance and recycling equipment.
- Collect and sort recyclable material at the facility.
- Perform safety duties to include safe material handling and cone placement for traffic control.
- Respond to requests and inquiries from customers and the public.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

This position is a safety sensitive position, which means you will be subject to random drug screens due to the nature of the work performed.
What We're Looking For:
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in general labor, maintenance and repair, landscaping, or construction.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Colorado Class “B” commercial driver’s license with an air brake endorsement.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
