We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Office Check-In Specialist to join our healthcare team! Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring a friendly check-in experience
- Verify patient identity and insurance coverage using the Athenahealth system
- Collect and update patient information accurately, including demographic data and insurance details
- Review and process documentation such as care plans, medical records, and billing information
- Schedule appointments and coordinate patient flow
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining strict confidentiality of all health information
- Assist with insurance verification, Medicare processing, and documentation review as needed
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and health insurance processes
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms
- Excellent customer service skills with phone etiquette and multi-line phone system experience
- Ability to perform accurate 10-key typing and data entry quickly and efficiently
- Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare regulations including HIPAA
- Experience with medical billing, insurance verification, and health information management
- Strong organizational skills for filing, documentation review, and office management tasks
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations
- Previous clinic or hospital experience in front desk or medical receptionist roles is preferred
