About The ROCK
The ROCK (Reaching Our Community Kids) Center for Youth Development is a dynamic, inclusive nonprofit organization providing safe and healthy developmental education, after-school programming, and community-based activities for middle and high school students.
Our programs are designed to help youth build character, strengthen social-emotional and life skills, develop confidence and a sense of belonging, and create a foundation for healthy choices and relationships.
About the Role
The Youth Program Team Lead helps oversee students in grades 6–12, as well as staff supporting The ROCK’s after-school programs.
Programs are currently offered at Jefferson Middle School, Northeast Middle School, Meridian Jr. High School, and The ROCK at Delta College.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys working directly with teens, supporting staff, staying organized, and creating a positive and safe after-school environment.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with youth and program staff.
- Support The ROCK’s mission and ensure staff understand and represents that mission.
- Oversee day-to-day program operations and staff performance.
- Delegate responsibilities and provide staff with clear expectations.
- Implement daily activity schedules and coordinate activities for teens.
- Supervise students during programming to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Help motivate and support staff in achieving program goals.
- Address student behavior and help youth regulate emotions and resolve conflict.
- Administer student medication or supervise self-administration when required.
- Assist with supper and snack preparation, including picking up food and milk when needed.
- Pick up materials and supplies for program sites as needed.
- Prepare program sites before student arrival and assist with closing the site at the end of the day.
- Communicate information to youth, parents, staff, and school personnel.
- Document conversations, disputes, incidents, and other important interactions.
- Track volunteer hours and support volunteers in meeting program goals.
- Maintain site equipment such as tablets and Chromebooks.
- Request supplies and materials needed for programming.
- Track student attendance, arrivals, and departures.
- Maintain required CACFP documentation and reporting.
- Complete attendance records, incident and accident reports, homework logs, and other required documentation.
- Learn and follow emergency procedures.
- Follow The ROCK and applicable school or partner-site policies and procedures.
- Develop positive relationships with youth, parents, volunteers, school personnel, community leaders, and partner organizations.
- Attend ROCK meetings, trainings, and planning sessions.
- Support fundraising events and other ROCK activities.
- Occasionally assist with special events and summer camps.
- Complete additional administrative or program duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Knowledge of youth development and an ability to motivate and support teens.
- Ability to communicate professionally with youth, parents, staff, and the general public.
- Ability to supervise youth and maintain a safe program environment.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a background check with fingerprinting.
- Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid, ServSafe, and ASIST Suicide Prevention certifications. Training will be provided.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to speak loudly when supervising groups.
- Ability to participate in games, sports, outdoor activities, and other active programming.
