Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled local Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods within a designated area, ensuring timely and safe delivery. This role requires a strong commitment to safety and compliance with all traffic regulations while providing excellent customer service.
Duties
- Operate various types of vehicles including trucks, tractor-trailers, chip vans, and lowboys for the transportation of wood chips and mulch.
- Ensure the safe loading and unloading of cargo, utilizing equipment such as skidsteers when necessary.
- ·Must be able to operate a manual tarp
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
- ·Monitor equipment for malfunctions or defects
- ·Must have strong communication and documentation skills to effectively communicate with dispatch
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations related to commercial driving.
Skills
- Must have CDLA, clean driving record, valid medical card, and must pass DOT required drug testing.
- Must have manual endorsement.
- Proven experience in truck driving with a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).
- Familiarity with various types of freight transportation including lowboy and live floor trailers.
- Proficient in operating manual transmission vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of safety protocols and regulations in the trucking industry.
- Ability to navigate local roads efficiently while maintaining punctuality.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
- A strong work ethic with attention to detail and commitment to quality service.
