What You’ll Do:
Analyze MRP data and identify material requirements
Place and manage purchase orders for steel & raw materials
Monitor supplier performance and on-time deliveries
Resolve shortages, quality concerns, and purchasing issues
Partner with suppliers, production planning, and internal teams
Support inventory optimization and material availability
Maintain accurate purchasing information in ERP/MRP systems
Identify alternative materials and suppliers when challenges arise
Help improve purchasing and supply chain processes

Key Responsibilities

- Review and analyze MRP reports to identify steel and raw material requirements.
- Place purchase orders for steel and related materials to support production schedules and customer demand.
- Ensure all purchase orders are entered accurately, including quantities, pricing, delivery dates, and material specifications.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery and compliance with purchase order requirements.
- Follow up with vendors regarding late deliveries, shortages, quality concerns, or other order discrepancies.
- Work with suppliers and internal teams to resolve purchasing, delivery, and inventory issues.
- Understand steel grades, raw material specifications, and approved material substitutions to maintain production continuity.
- Evaluate alternative materials and suppliers when shortages or supply disruptions occur.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and update purchasing information within the ERP/MRP system.
- Communicate material risks, shortages, and delivery concerns to production planning and management.
- Support inventory optimization efforts while maintaining adequate material availability.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve purchasing processes, supplier performance, and overall supply chain effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Manufacturing, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, or materials management preferred.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
- Knowledge of steel products, raw materials, and manufacturing processes is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
