Perry Co Central High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team as a full-time English teacher for grades 9-12. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills while fostering a love for literature and language. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and school curriculum for grades 9-12.
- Teach a variety of English courses, including literature, composition, and advanced placement options, to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Create an engaging and supportive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for reading and writing.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through various methods, including tests, projects, and presentations, providing constructive feedback to promote improvement.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and participate in school-wide initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to build strong relationships and ensure student success.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and enhance teaching effectiveness.
- Support students' social and emotional well-being by being approachable and available for guidance and mentorship.
- Contribute to the school community by participating in extracurricular activities, committees, and events.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification for grades 9-12 in English Language Arts.
- Strong knowledge of English literature, composition, and language arts pedagogy.
- Proven experience in teaching high school English, with a track record of fostering student engagement and achievement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students.
- Proficient in the use of technology and educational software to enhance teaching and learning.
