Job Description:
This position provides an opportunity to learn more about various aspects of traffic engineering, project management, and government transportation projects. The position will assist with tasks related to signal design, traffic studies, data collection, data sorting and filing, traffic signal timing, and traffic analysis. This internship will last for 8-10 weeks at 10-20 hours/week.
Examples of Duties:

Provides support to the Transportation Project Management Division

Assists in collection and analysis traffic data
-
Assists in the review of site plans, traffic studies, and other submittals through the City’s Technical Review Committee (TRC)

Assists in the preparation and completion of traffic studies, including left-turn phase studies, all-way stop analyses, pedestrian crossing analyses, etc.

Collects data in the field

Utilizes strong written and verbal communication skills

Conducts basic office functions, such as data entry, data storage, and file management

Interacts with the public and provides exemplary customer service

Performs other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
-
Currently enrolled in a college engineering program
-
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or similar software
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, traffic engineering, or similar
-
Working knowledge of Synchro, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS
