Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including restorations, extractions, root canals, and prosthodontic work, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared efficiently.
- Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners while adhering to strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
- Take vital signs, medical history updates, and document medical records accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients as they arrive, scheduling appointments, and coordinating with the dental receptionist to optimize clinic operations.
- Maintain sterilization protocols and infection control standards in accordance with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient safety.
- Prepare treatment rooms for procedures by organizing supplies and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
- Support pediatric dentistry cases by understanding pediatric dental terminology and assisting with age-specific patient needs.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred; familiarity with dental assisting procedures is essential.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is required for efficient documentation and scheduling.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical coding, and medical documentation practices enhances your ability to support comprehensive patient care.
- Experience with dental specialties like prosthodontics, endodontics, or pediatric dentistry is advantageous.
- Ability to perform dental radiography including X-ray imaging while maintaining safety standards; certification in radiology is a plus.
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and general dentistry procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members including dental receptionists and other clinical staff; familiarity with Epic or similar health record systems is beneficial.
