Position Overview
The Marketing & Community Engagement Lead-South Carolina will help strengthen Consolidated Planning's visibility, relationship and marketing initiatives, and recruiting presence in South Carolina, with an initial priority on our Mt. Pleasant and Summerville offices. This is a highly relational, outward-facing role that blends local marketing, community engagement, events, advisor and leadership support, and office hospitality.
The right person will be well connected in the Lowcountry, comfortable representing CP in the community, and able to turn relationships and ideas into meaningful opportunities. The role will work closely with CP's broader marketing resources while serving as a local resource for office leadership and advisors. As needs evolve, the position may also support other CP offices across South Carolina.
Primary Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Market Visibility
- Build and maintain relationships with local business organizations, charities, civic groups, chambers, universities, young professional networks, and other community partners.
- Identify opportunities for CP, local leadership, and advisors to participate in community events, sponsorships, speaking engagements, volunteer initiatives, boards, associations, and other relationship-building activities.
- Represent CP at selected community and professional events and help translate those relationships into stronger brand awareness, recruiting opportunities, referrals, and long-term partnerships.
Marketing & Recruiting Visibility
- Coordinate local marketing initiatives, social media activity, and content that highlight CP's people, culture, community involvement, expertise, events, and career opportunities.
- Support local recruiting campaigns and event promotion, with particular emphasis on LinkedIn and other appropriate digital channels.
- Partner with CP's Brand and Marketing team to ensure local activity is consistent with firm branding, messaging, strategy, and compliance requirements.
Events, Leadership & Advisor Support
- Coordinate CP-hosted and community events, including recruiting, client, educational, advisor, and brand-awareness activities, from planning through follow-up.
- Support local office leadership in building an effective external presence through community involvement, speaking opportunities, events, content, preparation, scheduling, and follow-through.
- Serve as a local marketing and community resource for advisors by helping identify networking opportunities, community connections, event ideas, and ways to strengthen their professional visibility.
Office Experience
- Create a warm, polished, and welcoming experience for candidates, clients, advisors, community partners, and visitors to the Mt. Pleasant office.
- Maintain an inviting and professional office environment, including reception-area aesthetics, meeting readiness, signage, refreshments, supplies, and other guest-experience details.
- Assist with light office coordination and day-to-day needs as necessary, without losing focus on the role's primary marketing and community-engagement responsibilities.
What Success Looks Like
- CP is increasingly visible, connected, and active in the Lowcountry and broader South Carolina business community.
- The firm develops stronger relationships with community leaders, organizations, prospective advisors, centers of influence, and referral partners.
- Local leadership and advisors have greater support and more opportunities to build their presence in the market.
- Recruiting candidates and visitors experience a professional, energetic, and welcoming CP office and see evidence of the firm's local momentum.
- Marketing, community involvement, and events are coordinated effectively and tied to clear brand, recruiting, or relationship-building objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong familiarity with Charleston and the Lowcountry, with existing involvement or relationships in local business, charitable, civic, cultural, educational, or young professional communities strongly preferred.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience in marketing, public relations, community engagement, event planning, business development, hospitality, recruiting, or a related field.
- Strong relationship-building, communication, organizational, and project-management skills.
- Working knowledge of LinkedIn and social media content creation; additional digital marketing or event-marketing experience is a plus.
- Polished, proactive, resourceful, and comfortable representing an organization in professional and community settings.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively with local office leadership, advisors, and centralized support teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, hospitality, business, or a related field is preferred, although relevant experience will be considered.
Work Environment & Compensation
This is a primarily on-site role based in the Mt. Pleasant office, with regular local travel and occasional early morning, evening, or weekend availability for community and firm events. Initial support will prioritize the Mt. Pleasant and Summerville offices, with the potential to support other South Carolina markets as business needs evolve.
Anticipated salary range: will be discussed during the interview process, and will depend on experience, qualifications, marketing capabilities, and relevant community relationships.
The responsibilities listed above are intended to describe the primary scope of the role and are not all-inclusive. Other duties may be assigned as business needs evolve.
