Role Overview
The GCP Engineer – Consultant designs, implements, and supports enterprise-grade Google Cloud environments for Agilify clients as part of a broader multi-cloud practice. This role serves as a senior point of contact for Google Cloud architecture, migrations, and troubleshooting, while helping client teams build internal cloud expertise through mentorship, documentation, and hands-on knowledge transfer. The ideal candidate brings deep technical fluency across compute, networking, security, and DevOps practices in GCP, along with the consulting acumen to translate client requirements into secure, scalable, well-governed cloud solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- GCP Environment Management – Oversee and maintain client Google Cloud Platform services while ensuring adherence to industry best practices.
- Cloud Architecture – Design, review, and implement GCP solutions that meet performance, security, and scalability requirements.
- Troubleshooting and Support – Serve as a senior point of contact for complex GCP-related issues, including network connectivity, coordinating with internal teams and client stakeholders to determine root cause and remediation strategies.
- Vendor Relationships – Work with Google Cloud and other third-party vendors to integrate products into the overall GCP ecosystem.
- Mentorship and Training – Provide knowledge transfer, training, and coaching to client staff to build internal cloud expertise, and help create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and playbooks.
- Governance and Security – Work with client security teams to ensure industry best practices (such as Organization Policies and Security Command Center) and applicable compliance requirements are met.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- At least 7 years of experience configuring and maintaining key GCP services (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL/Spanner, VPC, Cloud IAM, Cloud Functions, Google Kubernetes Engine, etc.).
- Experience leading cloud migrations or implementations in a complex multi-project/multi-organization environment.
- Strong network troubleshooting abilities to help resolve connectivity issues both inside the GCP environment and ingressing/egressing to on-premises environments (e.g., Cloud VPN, Cloud Interconnect).
- Familiarity with GCP landing zone implementations and management using Google Cloud's organization node, folder, and project hierarchy and related deployment tooling.
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Deployment Manager, Config Connector) and CI/CD pipelines (Cloud Build, GitHub Actions).
- Experience implementing security best practices (e.g., Cloud IAM policies, Cloud KMS encryption, network segmentation, and Organization Policies).
- Familiarity with DevOps principles, containerization (Docker, GKE, Cloud Run), and serverless architectures.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities across networking, storage, and compute layers in GCP.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven experience mentoring staff and fostering a collaborative, learning-focused environment.
- Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to lead architectural reviews and navigate ambiguity in designing solutions to complex business problems.
Preferred Experience
- Google Cloud professional-level certification (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer).
- Experience in a government or highly regulated environment (e.g., HIPAA, CJIS, IRS 1075, FedRAMP).
- Knowledge of ITIL, project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, Agile), and enterprise IT governance frameworks.
- Familiarity with other public cloud providers and hybrid-cloud environments (e.g., Anthos).
- Working knowledge of common scripting/programming languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).

Pay: $85,328.59 - $102,761.31 per year
