Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Dental Front Office Assistant to join our vibrant dental team. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and provide exceptional customer service at the front desk
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments using the dental practice management software Dentrix
- Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility using Stratus
- Collect and process payments, including medical collections and billing procedures
- Manage patient records accurately within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and ensure HIPAA compliance
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and assist with patient inquiries
- Review documentation for accuracy, including intake forms, care plans, and medical records, ensuring proper coding with CPT, ICD-10/ICD-9 codes for billing purposes
- Maintain organized filing of dental and medical records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with health information management standards
- Support clinic operations by managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out processes, and office management tasks
Requirements
- Proven experience in a dental or medical front office setting; dental clinic experience highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and health information management practices
- Familiarity with Dentrix
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills including 10-key typing for data entry
- Excellent communication skills with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Strong organizational skills for filing, documentation review, and office management support
- Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicare and Medicaid is advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional patient service in a healthcare setting
