SUMMARY
Install, troubleshoot, set up and repair cold end mechanical and electrical equipment and distribution systems, involving work of varied nature with minimal supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Install and rearrange complex equipment including inspection equipment, laser equipment, linear sprays, MSK, lantech, and robotic changeovers.
- Performs work in the mechanic’s skill area such as fabrication, assembly, welding, burning, cutting, basic turning, basic milling and pipefitting.
- Performs work in the control technician’s skill area such as programming of PLC’s, wiring of control cabinets and troubleshooting of control circuits and direct drives.
- Diagnose equipment failures and fine tune operation of equipment on lines.
- Conduct PM’s and repair of equipment
- Dismantles repairs and reassembles equipment.
- Complete routine paperwork and computer work as required.
- Clean debris and lubricant from parts, work area and equipment; maintain 5S standards
- Operate production equipment to check work as required.
- Occasionally perform work in other trades.
- Direct work of helpers as required.
- Work from mechanical and electrical drawings, verbal instructions or sketches.
- Uses typical mechanic and control technician’s tools.
- Use basic math to diagnose and/or solve problems.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Fundamental understanding Mechanical and Electronic principles; skilled in both areas.
- Basic understanding of 240 and 480 usage.
- Able to operate all shop equipment.
- Able to start, stop and operate all equipment in their area.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Degree/Diploma in Electrical and/or Instrumentation Technology preferred
- 1-3 years’ experience in the Process and Control field or in a similar industry.
- Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Able to manually lift, push
- or pull up to 50 lbs. intermittently; heavier parts are lifted using other methods.
- Ability to carry up to 10 lbs.
- Must be able to work at elevated heights and high temperatures
- Ability to work overtime when needed, possibly on short notice
- Able to work with water soluble and oil-based lubricants.
- Able to work on ladders, scaffolds and in pits.
- Able to work extended hours when necessary.
