Job Description
Please note this is a long term substitute position covering a leave of absence from approximately 10/01/2026 through 02/22/2027.
We are seeking a Special Education Teacher for our substantially separate program for students with intensive needs who require individualized instruction across all academic areas. Students typically have either global cognitive delays or a diagnosis on the Autism Spectrum.
Responsibilities

Provide direct instruction for students

Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences and learning styles

Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, and materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of learning styles and needs of students assigned

Manage student behavior to achieve an effective learning environment and in compliance with district and state guidelines.

Work collaboratively with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.

Provide timely and appropriate plans for substitutes as necessary.

Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning through formal and informal testing.

Persistent belief in the potential for all students to succeed academically with an asset-based mindset

Ability to communicate respectfully and in a culturally proficient manner with parents/guardians about student progress and language acquisition

Ability to analyze and utilize student data to develop and/or co-create curriculum and instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners.
Requirements

MA DESE licensure in moderate or severe disabilities; severe disabilities preferred

Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement (required within one year of start date)

At least three (3) years of relevant experience preferred

Minimum of a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in the appropriate content area
Compensation
-
$261.58 per day
-
Up to $305.25 per day for retired, former Beverly Public Schools MA DESE licensed teachers
Employment Eligibility

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a CORI and SORI background check and fingerprint-based national criminal history check, in accordance with Massachusetts law.
