Senator Jim Risch is seeking a motivated and resourceful Legislative Correspondent for his Washington, D.C. office. The position will cover a broad portfolio that includes health care, immigration, defense, veterans, judiciary, among other issues.
The ideal candidate will be an exceptional writer and critical thinker with strong research, organizational, and communication skills. Applicants must demonstrate close attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Previous House or Senate experience and ties to Idaho or the Mountain West are strongly preferred.
Key responsibilities include:
- Drafting constituent correspondence and other written materials in the senator’s voice and tone
- Conducting legislative and policy research
- Monitoring legislation, hearings, and other relevant policy developments
- Preparing briefing materials for the senator and staff
- Assisting with constituent, stakeholder, and agency correspondence
- Representing the senator in meetings with stakeholders and the public
- Supporting the legislative team on additional projects as needed
