About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Collections Specialist to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with experience handling customer accounts, collections, invoicing follow-up, and payment resolution within government contracts, transportation, logistics, or USPS-related operations.
The ideal candidate is organized, professional, persistent, and comfortable communicating with customers, vendors, accounting teams, and government contacts to resolve outstanding balances and paperwork issues efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage accounts receivable and collections activities for customer accounts
- Follow up on outstanding invoices, aging balances, and payment status
- Work directly with customers and government contacts regarding billing discrepancies and required documentation
- Handle collections and account resolution related to government contracts and USPS work
- Review and organize supporting paperwork including PODs, invoices, BOLs, and contract documentation
- Coordinate with operations, dispatch, and accounting teams to resolve payment delays
- Maintain accurate notes, records, and customer communication history
- Monitor customer payment trends and escalate problem accounts when necessary
- Assist with account reconciliations and reporting
- Maintain professionalism while handling sensitive customer situations
Qualifications:
- Experience in collections, accounts receivable, or billing
- Experience working with government contracts and/or USPS contracts strongly preferred
- Transportation, logistics, trucking, or freight industry experience is a plus
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills
- Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines
- Excellent phone, email, and customer communication skills
- Experience with QuickBooks, TMS systems, or proficient excel skills
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
