The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Red River Valley provides before-and after-school, all-day, and summer youth development programming to youth ages 5 to 17 years old in grades K through 12. We provide youth a safe place to learn and grow, ongoing relationships with caring mentors, life enhancing programs, character development, hope, and opportunity. Youth also participate in activities promoting community & civic involvement, health & wellness, moral compass & positive self-identity, as well as competencies in education, employment, and social, emotional, and cultural wellbeing.
What We Do:
Unit Directors manage overall daily operations of designated Club(s) site(s) under the control of the organization with primary concern for comprehensive, outcome-driven program and service delivery.
Key areas of responsibility are ensuring positive member impact, managing outstanding program and service delivery including positive club climate; supervision and training of staff; member development; community relations and outreach; and managing the safety and security of all staff and members.
Primary Responsibilities and Activities:
- Develop and implement planning and project management processes to ensure the effective coordination and integration of the programs and resources of the Club.
- Supervise Staff and Volunteers, providing ongoing feedback and identifying and supporting professional development opportunities.
- Adhere to all state licensing regulations.
- Ensure staff are adhering to policies and procedures regarding contract compliance for attendance and recordkeeping.
- Ensure that the established Boys & Girls Club youth development strategy is implemented, and rules and policies are enforced. Ensure programs, services and activities prepare youth for success, promote the safety of members and quality and consistency in programs at all times.
- Oversee proper record keeping and reporting including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements and any problems/issues.
- Compile regular reports reflecting overall program participation and daily attendance; coordinate planning and execution of special events to ensure success.
- Manage club financial resources assisting in the development of annual budgets.
Position Requirements:
- Four-year degree from an accredited college or university, associate’s degree and 1-year childcare experience, or equivalent experience.
- Or ability to acquire a Child Development associate’s degree within 2 years.
- Supervisory/management experience with an emphasis in being highly positive and utilizing an enthusiastic style capable of motivating others.
- Experience in a youth service, family support, K-12 educational setting, or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience.
- Strong organization, time management skills and ability to set priorities
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal
- Demonstrated knowledge or ability to utilize and manage available technology to increase efficiency and productivity in the workplace, including member database.
- First Aid and CPR certified with an emphasis in pediatric care
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and able to pass a criminal background check.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to perform work in an office setting as well as in a highly interactive and emotionally and physically stimulating environment.
- Required to stand, walk, and sit. Able to use hands and fingers on a (computer) keyboard and other office equipment.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Perform Safety-sensitive culture requiring a constant state of alertness.
- The noise level in the work environment is high due to work is conducted in a Club for children, both indoor and outdoor setting.
- Travel between club sites is required. Must have a reliable and accessible mode of transportation to commute occasionally between club sites.
