Overview
Catholic Charities of Buffalo is seeking a full-time Assistant Director, Clinical Services (Behavioral Health) for our Behavioral Health unit, Monsignor Carr Institute (MCI). The Assistant Director, Clinical Services, supports the Director of Behavioral Health in overseeing the administrative and clinical operations of the agency’s behavioral health programs. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, compliant, and efficient delivery of outpatient behavioral health services while providing leadership and supervision to clinical staff. The Assistant Director plays a key role in program development, performance improvement, and day-to-day operational management.

Job Responsibilities
Clinical & Program Oversight

Supports oversight of clinical and administrative operations for behavioral health services, ensuring effective and efficient program delivery.

Monitors and ensures high-quality treatment for clients with emotional, mental health, substance use, and psychological disorders.

Assists in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating behavioral health programs and services.

Helps coordinate outpatient care services to improve client outcomes and quality of life.

Maintains current knowledge of best practices, evidence-based interventions, and regulatory requirements in behavioral health.
Leadership & Staff Supervision

Supervises clinical and support staff, providing guidance, coaching, and performance management.

Coordinates staff schedules, caseload distribution, and resource allocation.

Conducts performance evaluations and supports the professional development of team members.

Promotes a culture of accountability, collaboration, and client-centered care.

Compliance & Quality Assurance
-
Ensures all services comply with Federal, State, and local regulations and standards, including OMH, HIPAA, and applicable accreditation bodies.

Supports audit readiness and participates in internal and external audits.

Implements quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.

Monitors documentation, service delivery, and billing practices for accuracy and compliance.
Operations & Administration

Assists in making operational decisions to maintain smooth daily functioning of programs.

Supports data tracking, reporting, and performance metrics to inform decision-making.

Helps identify operational challenges and implement process improvements.

Assists in budget monitoring and resource management.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement

Collaborates with community partners, providers, and external agencies to ensure continuity of care.

Serves as a point of contact for clients, families, staff, and external stakeholders as needed.

Supports outreach and program promotion efforts to increase access to services.

Maintains strong working relationships with internal and external partners.
Qualifications
-
Master’s degree in social work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or related field
-
Active NYS clinical licensure (LCSW, LMHC, LMSW, etc.)

5- 10 years of clinical experience
-
3-5 years of supervisory responsibility and leadership experience

Extensive experience with OMH regulations and Medicaid Billing required

Knowledge of private insurance billing required

Must be able to travel to the various Behavioral Health locations

Experience with 10e11 EMR system a plus

Must be prepared to work a flexible schedule in order provide person-centered care
