Field Piping & Structural Designer
We are seeking an experienced Field Piping & Structural Designer to support active industrial construction projects. This position requires a strong field background and the ability to translate P&IDs, field conditions, Navisworks models, and construction team direction into clear, accurate drawings and construction packages. Daily Per diem paid is $140. will be paid 7 days of Per Diem on five days worked weekly. M-F typical work week. Job location is right outside Las Vegas.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable working directly with field supervision, engineering, and project teams in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop hand-drawn piping isometric drawings that are clear, accurate, and suitable for field construction.
- Read, understand, and interpret P&IDs, construction drawings, specifications, and related project documents.
- Navigate and review Navisworks models to identify piping, structural components, routing, equipment locations, and field conditions.
- Develop piping and structural drawings based on P&IDs, Navisworks models, field measurements, sketches, and information communicated through email or directly by the construction team.
- Redline, revise, and annotate drawings in real time as construction progresses and field conditions change.
- Perform field walkdowns to verify dimensions, routing, elevations, tie-in points, interferences, and existing conditions as needed.
- Help prepare organized and constructible drawing packages for field crews.
- Develop accurate Material Take-Offs (MTOs) directly from P&IDs, isometrics, drawings, models, and field information.
- Identify required piping components, fittings, flanges, valves, supports, structural materials, hardware, and other construction materials.
- Maintain clear communication through email and direct coordination with project management, engineering, procurement, and field supervision.
- Incorporate field changes and redlines into updated drawings and maintain accurate documentation for construction and as-built records.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience with industrial piping and structural construction.
- Ability to hand draw piping isometrics from field conditions and P&IDs.
- Strong understanding of P&IDs and piping systems.
- Experience navigating Navisworks.
- Ability to understand piping routing, elevations, fittings, valves, flanges, supports, tie-ins, and structural interfaces.
- Ability to create accurate MTOs/BOMs from drawings, models, and field information.
- Experience redlining and annotating construction drawings.
- Ability to take information from multiple sources and turn it into a complete, field-ready construction package.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work closely with field personnel while construction is actively progressing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ideal Candidate
This is not strictly a desk-based drafting position. We are looking for someone who understands how piping and structural systems are actually built in the field and can quickly convert field conditions, P&IDs, models, redlines, and construction direction into drawings and material requirements that crews can use to perform the work.
Pay: $32.00 - $43.00 per hour
