Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments in outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and patient symptoms accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Prepare patients for exams by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and managing intake processes efficiently.
- Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, medication administration, and basic life support (BLS) as required.
- Manage medical records and documentation with precision, including ICD coding, medical terminology, and detailed charting.
- Support medical office management by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and handling administrative duties related to patient care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in specialties like dermatology, internal medicine, geriatrics, or hospital medicine to optimize patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar clinical support role within outpatient or hospital environments.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and ICD coding standards.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are a plus.
- Familiarity with hospital medicine, urgent care clinics, or medical-surgical units enhances your ability to adapt quickly.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including geriatrics and internal medicine patients.
- Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
