Job Summary
We’re looking for a hands-on, experienced On-Farm Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair farm machinery, vehicles, and heavy equipment. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, dependable, and able to diagnose and solve mechanical issues with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic tests, preventive maintenance, and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems for tractors, harvesters, and implements.
- Service irrigation and water-pumping equipment, farm trucks, trailers, and support machinery (loaders, backhoes, generators, etc.).
- Conduct scheduled maintenance according to manufacturer specifications and internal service logs.
- Maintain accurate records of service work, parts usage, and labor in the CMF maintenance tracking system.
- Inspect and report on equipment condition to identify preventative repair opportunities.
- Collaborate with farm operations to schedule maintenance around field activity.
- Source parts and coordinate with vendors for specialized repairs when needed.
- Maintain shop organization, tools, and safety standards.
- Assist in training operators on basic equipment checks and daily maintenance.
- Support winter overhaul projects and seasonal equipment readiness.
Requirements
- 5+ years of diesel mechanic experience (agricultural, heavy equipment, or fleet).
- Strong working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work outdoors in variable conditions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
