Job Summary:
Perform tasks involving physical labor at building and heavy construction projects. May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- General and final cleanup of project sites, project offices, surrounding areas, etc., removing hazards, materials, and debris.
- Distribute and cleanup of power & hand tools, extension cords, generators, etc.
- Dewatering activities and set up water pumps and hoses.
- Manual moving of formwork, lumber, rebar, and materials.
- Place concrete to/from a truck, pump, bucket, buggy, conveyor, etc.
- Hand excavation and backfill, and hand grade sub-base.
- Load and unload equipment and materials from trucks and trailers.
- Concrete tasks: rake, screed concrete, vibrate, and place concrete blankets.
- Use of demolition during various tasks: jackhammer, air tools, sledgehammer, cut-off saw, etc.
- Follow instructions and comprehend construction needs.
- Adheres to procedures, regulations, and guidelines while minimizing errors and safety risks.
- Regular attendance is required according to company policy to ensure the crew can operate at the normal efficiency level.
- Performs other duties of a similar or related nature as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Basic use and knowledge of operating common hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in construction.
- Able to work a flexible schedule with last-minute schedule, location, time of shift change (day & night), and overtime work as needed.
- Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
Education and Experience:
- High School or equivalent (preferred).
- Minimum two (2) years’ field experience in the construction industry.
- Valid Driver’s License with clear MVR (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including ground in varying weather conditions.
- Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements.
- Able to work in confined spaces.
- May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, climb, and balance repeatedly or continually throughout shift.
- Regularly works in an outdoor environment near heavy equipment, power tools, and moving machinery in the surrounding area.
- Able to push/pull 80+ lbs.
- Able to lift/carry 80+ lbs.
- Able to wear personal protective equipment is required, including but not limited to steel-toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.
