Assembly Technician
Job Summary
We have a contract to hire opportunity with our client in Columbus, for an Assembly Technician to build, assemble, test, and perform quality checks on electronic and mechanical components used in instrumentation and equipment for life science, metabolic, and environmental research applications. This role applies general mechanical and electrical assembly knowledge to support manufacturing operations and ensure finished products meet quality and functional standards.
Essential Functions
- Perform electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical testing in accordance with applicable documentation to validate full system functionality
- Confirm systems are built to specification and complete required quality control checks with proper documentation
- Assemble front and rear panel components, shelves, enclosures, cable harnesses, and electro-mechanical subassemblies
- Use basic hand tools, power tools, and machine tools for assembly of mechanical and electro-mechanical parts
- Perform cable continuity and low-voltage signal testing using standard test equipment such as multimeters
- Read and follow build instructions, wiring diagrams, system schematics, and assembly documentation
- Support packaging, final prep, and shipment of completed orders
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe workstations in accordance with manufacturing standards
- Assist with troubleshooting build issues and escalating concerns when needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on assembly experience
- Basic understanding of electronics and electro-mechanical systems
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and standard assembly equipment
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, pneumatic drawings, and system layouts
- Experience with electrical testing, cable verification, and basic troubleshooting
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control and accuracy
- Ability to identify assembly defects, fitment issues, and basic component failures
- Strong communication and teamwork skills in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to follow written work instructions and standardized processes
- 2+ years of experience in assembly, manufacturing, or technician-based production roles
- Electronic, mechanical, or specialized technical education is a plus
- Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
