The purpose of this class within the organization is to provide the animal control officers with clerical/custodial assistance for the animals that enter the shelter. This class works under close supervision according to set procedures. The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Manages, organizes and oversees paperwork from the public; answers telephone, and dispatches calls.
Handles, organizes and files confidential paperwork that comes through the shelter.
Assists with cleaning inside and/or outside dog runs.
Cleans kennels and cat litter pans; washes and dries blankets, toys, rags, and towels.
Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and wipes down areas.
Feeds and waters animals during shift, replaces food and water as needed.
Assists patrons with animals and provides tours of the shelter.
Provides patrons with information about pet adoption.
Walks dogs.
Performs related work as assigned.
Physical Demands: Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, stretching, or lifting all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or exceptional skill, adeptness, and speed in the use of fingers, hands, or limbs in tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
