Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Head Swim Instructor to lead our aquatic education team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality swim lessons, coaching diverse age groups and skill levels, and fostering a safe, engaging, and motivating environment. Your leadership will ensure that our swim programs promote water safety, skill development, and confidence among participants. Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the planning, development, and implementation of swim lesson curricula tailored to various age groups and skill levels.
- Directly instruct swim classes, ensuring clear communication of techniques and safety protocols to students.
- Supervise and mentor assistant instructors and lifeguards, fostering a collaborative team environment focused on excellence in instruction.
- Maintain rigorous safety standards by monitoring water conditions, enforcing rules, and responding swiftly to emergencies using AED (Automated External Defibrillator) operation and first aid/CPR skills.
- Conduct behavior management strategies to promote positive learning experiences and ensure student engagement.
- Coordinate with program administrators to schedule classes, track attendance, and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Communicate regularly with clients—parents, guardians, or participants—to provide progress updates and address any concerns or questions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in swimming instruction with strong knowledge of water safety practices.
- Lifeguard certification with current first aid and CPR/AED certification required.
- Experience working with children in educational or sports settings is essential.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team of instructors and lifeguards.
- Background in sports coaching such as soccer, basketball, cheerleading, climbing, judo or karate is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques for diverse student populations.
- Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and team coordination.
- Prior experience teaching physical education or sports-specific training instruction preferred.
- Knowledge of health club or gym environments is a plus; experience working with students of all ages is essential.
