The Tactical / Plant Buyer will be responsible for daily planning and purchasing needs of all raw, packaging and indirect materials for the Clover, SC factory. The Buyer will work hand in hand with Plant and Corporate personnel to ensure materials are secured to meet production schedules, sourced from complaint vendors, and drive financial results by managing inventory levels.
Run MRP daily and purchase raw/packaging materials as needed to meet production and balance stocking levels
This includes long lead time planning, ordering and order management of materials that are sourced aboard
Communicate and escalate any supply disruptions or delays in shipments to plant and corporate personnel
Work with our 3PL to schedule trucks to pick up materials and deliver them to our site as needed. This will be for both domestic and abroad shipments
Work intercompany to obtain supply of internally produced raw materials
Review order confirmations and deliveries to ensure they match the purchase order and come in as required to meet the production schedule
Maintain the schedule of bulk truck deliveries for the site and work closely with the warehouse to coordinate deliveries of other raw/packaging materials
Receive goods as needed into SAP
Convert approved requisitions into purchase orders to support the indirect material needs of the workforce at the site
Support Corporate as need updating information in the SAP system (such as pricing records)
Provide input and execute purchasing strategies set by Corporate
Monitor supplier performance and provide feedback to Corporate on underperforming vendors
Issue and follow up on supplier corrective actions as needed
Independently review lead times, stocking levels, safety stocks and update SAP accordingly per business demand
Assist or fill in for buyers in other Munzing locations as needed
Negotiate purchases on an as needed basis
Weekly counting and ordering of critical plant indirect supplies
Sends supporting documents to Accounts Payable and approves payment when necessary
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
BS/BA Degree in Supply Management or a related field with 5+ years’ experience in procurement or supply chain
Experience using SAP MRP; including ability to run reports in SAP and analyze in Excel
Good understanding of and willingness to learn all aspects of inventory management and procurement
Negotiation experience desired
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills; with demonstrated ability to provide high level of customer focus and service
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to work an eight (8) hour shift in a manufacturing plant office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time, stand, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard; close vision is required due to computer work; and occasional light to moderate lifting. Occasional overtime is required.
