Job Summary
TLC Veterinary Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled Per Diem Veterinary Surgery Technician to assist our veterinary team in surgical procedures and perioperative care for small animal patients. This position is responsible for providing technical support during surgeries, monitoring patients under anesthesia, and ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surgical suites and equipment for procedures, ensuring sterility and readiness.
- Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures including spays, neuters, soft tissue surgeries, and dental procedures.
- Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals throughout procedures, adjusting support as needed.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care instructions and support to clients.
- Maintain accurate surgical and patient records in compliance with clinic policies.
- Clean and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and treatment areas.
- Support the veterinary team with patient restraint, positioning, and handling during procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
Qualifications
- Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or equivalent) certification preferred.
- Prior experience in surgical support and anesthesia monitoring preferred.
- Knowledge of small animal surgical procedures, aseptic techniques, and anesthesia protocols.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with staff and clients.
- Ability to handle stressful situations with professionalism and composure.
Work Schedule / Compensation
- Per diem, as-needed shifts with flexible scheduling.
