In this role, you will work alongside dentists, dental hygienists, and other team members to provide welcoming, efficient, and patient-centered oral healthcare to individuals and families throughout Northern Nevada.

Position Summary
The Dental Assistant plays an important role in supporting the clinical and administrative functions of the Dental team. This position assists dentists and dental hygienists with diagnostic, preventive, restorative, and surgical procedures; helps maintain safe and well-organized treatment areas; supports efficient patient flow; and provides front-desk assistance when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients, treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for dental procedures.
- Assist dentists and dental hygienists during examinations and procedures.
- Support diagnostic, preventive, restorative, and surgical dental services.
- Follow established infection-control, sterilization, safety, and PPE requirements.
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked treatment areas.
- Accurately enter and maintain information in dental software and patient records.
- Help create a welcoming and comfortable experience for patients.
- Support efficient patient flow and assist with front-desk responsibilities as needed.
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients and team members.
- Perform other related duties necessary to support Dental department operations.
Schedule
This is a full-time, in-person position working Monday through Friday. Assigned daytime hours.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or at least one year of chairside dental assisting experience required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of chairside dental procedures, infection-control practices, and sterilization techniques.
- Ability to use dental software, digital X-ray systems, and standard office technology.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Calm, professional, and compassionate approach to patient care.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
CHA offers a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes:
- Hourly pay of $20.15–$23.56, based on relevant experience.
- 100% employer-paid employee medical coverage.
- 90% employer-paid employee dental and vision coverage.
- Medical, dental, and vision benefits beginning the first day of the month following 60 days of employment.
- 120 hours of paid time off during the first year of employment—equivalent to 15 eight-hour workdays—increasing to 216 hours annually after one year of service, equivalent to 27 eight-hour workdays.
- Eight paid holidays each year.
- Employer-paid $10,000 accidental death and dismemberment coverage for benefit-eligible employees.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and stretch throughout the workday.
- Ability to frequently lift and move up to 20 pounds, including dental supplies and equipment.
- Manual dexterity necessary to handle dental instruments and complete detailed tasks.
- Hearing and visual abilities necessary to communicate with patients, review records, take X-rays, and assist with dental procedures.
- Ability to work in a clinical environment with potential exposure to bodily fluids, dental materials, and cleaning or sterilization chemicals.
- Ability to consistently follow all PPE, infection-control, and workplace safety requirements.
- Ability to work efficiently, adapt to interruptions, and remain professional under pressure.
