Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Receptionist for evening shift who is comfortable working in a fast-paced emergency environment. The ideal candidate will have prior veterinary experience, knowledge of basic veterinary medical terminology, and the ability to confidently interact with clients and patients during urgent and emergency situations.
This role involves both front-desk responsibilities and basic patient intake duties. Candidates should be comfortable handling pets safely, obtaining patient histories, and collecting basic patient information before the doctor or technician evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Greet clients and patients in a professional, compassionate manner.
- Answer multi-line phone systems and assist with emergency calls.
- Check patients in and obtain accurate patient and client information.
- Take and document patient histories.
- Obtain patient weights and temperatures during intake.
- Process payments and maintain accurate medical records.
- Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff.
- Prioritize multiple tasks in a high-volume emergency setting.
- Assist with patient flow and ensure efficient communication between clients and the medical team.
- Safely restrain pets when necessary for basic procedures or examinations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Previous veterinary hospital experience.
- Knowledge of basic veterinary medical terminology.
- Ability to safely and properly restrain dogs and cats.
- Experience obtaining patient histories, weights, and temperatures.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and professional in emergency situations.
- Excellent multitasking and time-management skills.
Schedule Requirements
- Must be available to work evenings and nights.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Our hospital is open until midnight; however, shifts may extend beyond scheduled hours due to emergency surgeries or high patient volume.
- Candidates must be flexible and understand that some nights may run until 1:00 AM or 2:00 AM when patient care requires it.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
