We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic healthcare team serving the San Joaquin area and surrounding communities. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough occupational therapy assessments to evaluate patients’ physical, cognitive, sensory, and motor abilities.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings, evidence-based practices, and client goals.
- Implement targeted occupational therapy programs to improve skills related to activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, coordination, and sensory processing.
- Assist patients with discharge planning by coordinating care transitions and providing education on home modifications or adaptive equipment needs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including speech therapists, physical therapists, physicians, educators, and case managers—to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Document all clinical interventions accurately within electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining compliance with medical documentation standards.
- Support clients with autism spectrum disorders and other neurodevelopmental conditions by designing specialized interventions that foster development and independence.
- Provide guidance on treatment plan development for diverse populations such as pediatrics in early intervention or school settings, adults in occupational health or outpatient clinics, and seniors in geriatrics or skilled nursing facilities.
- Engage in client communication to educate patients and families about therapy goals, progress updates, and home exercise programs.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with advances in occupational therapy techniques and medical terminology.
Experience
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities across various settings such as inpatient units, outpatient clinics, home health environments, or schools.
- Demonstrated expertise in pediatric occupational therapy including early intervention programs and school-based services for students with disabilities or special education needs.
- Experience working with neurodevelopmental disorders like autism spectrum disorders supports your ability to tailor interventions effectively.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy is essential for accurate assessments and treatment planning in physical rehabilitation occupational therapy contexts.
- Skilled in medical documentation practices using electronic health records (EHR) systems while adhering to clinical documentation standards.
- Background in case management including discharge planning ensures seamless transitions for patients across care settings.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to inpatient and outpatient care scenarios supports effective communication within multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working with students with disabilities or special education needs prepares you for school-based occupational therapy roles.
