Jackpot Veterinary Center is looking for a dependable and hardworking Kennel Technician/Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team.
We are a private, veterinarian owned and operated hospital with a focus on quality care for our patients and quality of life for our staff. We are a fast-paced, progressive animal hospital with both a large and small animal clinic on our beautiful property located in northwest Tucson.
Our modern practice has been outfitted with all the latest technology, including: digital radiography, digital dental radiography, in-house Idexx CBC/Chem analyzers, ultrasound, class IV laser, tonopen, Behr huggers, and more! We are able to provide excellent care and services for our patients and are supported by an exceptional team of veterinarians, certified technicians, assistants, and receptionists. Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Stocking exam rooms, cabinets, and pharmacy with necessary items for the veterinarian and technicians.
- Making IV flushes.
- Checking Inventory and putting away supplies.
- Cleaning and sanitizing pet kennels.
- General clinic cleanliness and disinfection
- Washing, folding, and organizing clinic laundry.
- Cleaning treatment areas including scrubbing wet tables; sweeping and mopping
- Cleaning surgical areas including sanitizing mayo stands and surgery tables
- Cleaning surgical instruments in chlorhex solution and ultrasonic solution
- Inspecting instruments for cleanliness and/or disrepair
- Wrapping surgical packs
- Checking hospitalized patients for soiled bedding, water refills, or food refills at doctors’ discretion
- Restraining small canines in a variety of positions for exams, radiograph, procedures, radiology and blood draws
- Restraining large canines in a variety of positions for exams, radiograph, procedures, radiology, and blood draws
- Restraining felines in a variety of positions for exams, radiograph, procedures, radiology, and blood draws
Experience:
- Previous experience in pet care, kennel management, or veterinary settings is preferred
- Familiarity with animal handling and behavior
- Understanding of veterinary assistant duties such as animal catheterization and critical care is beneficial
Requirements:
- Passion for working with animals and providing compassionate care
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment
- Strong communication skills to interact with pet owners, veterinarians, and colleagues
- Physical stamina to handle the demands of the role including lifting and restraining animals
