This position is a split position where the employee will engage with preschoolers (age 4) in the morning hours, and will engage with school age children in the afternoons through out the school year. In the summer, the employee will be engaging with students in the school age summer program.
Responsibilities
- Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and guiding children through activities
- Supervise children during indoor activities, outdoor play, meal times, and transitions to ensure safety at all times
- Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding children's progress and classroom events
- Understand the expectation of accepting and executing all center and church policies and procedures, and the state licensing rules for child care centers.
- Be knowledgeable of emergency and security procedures and participate in scheduled drills.
Qualifications
- Be at least 19 years of age
- Have HS Diploma or GED
- Prior experience working with young children in daycare, preschool, private school settings or similar environments is preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices such as literacy education, behavior management, and classroom management techniques
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and engage with children and families
