Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and manage the front desk with professionalism and enthusiasm
- Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Collect payments, process co-pays, and handle medical billing with accuracy and integrity
- Review patient records for completeness and ensure documentation aligns with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including updating medical history and medical terminology explanations
- Coordinate with dental providers to facilitate care plans and treatment scheduling
- Maintain accurate dental records and manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Dentrix
- Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette and provide exceptional customer service
- Support administrative tasks including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and managing medical office documentation
Skills
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical coding (ICD-10, CPT), and insurance verification processes
- Proficiency in EMR systems like Epic, Meditech, Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar platforms
- Experience with medical billing, coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and care plan documentation review
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and health information management practices
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10 key typing)
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable; strong clerical and front desk skills are essential
- Exceptional patient service skills combined with professional phone etiquette in a busy environment
- Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in medical records management
