The responsibility of the Team Leader is to collaborate and lead a small learning community while ensuring that it operates as a cohesive and effective unit in accordance with the mission of SESI Education. These responsibilities include instruction support, integration support, behavior management, family support and staff supervision and training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Understands and implements SESI philosophy, policy and procedures relating to conduct, discipline, educational and attendance outcomes for students, staff and parents.
2. Responsible for daily operations including climate, safety and environment for all students, staff and visitors. Reviews absentee issues and any possible student issues prior to start of each school day and reassigns students or staff if necessary.
3. Demonstrates professional leadership qualities while utilizing motivational techniques and strategies in the development of daily school wide programs, operations, climate and safety.
4. Responds to and supports each emergent situation in their learning community. Takes appropriate actions as defined by our practices and policies. Notifies appropriate members of Leadership Team.
5. Contacts parents as needed to report student progress.
6. Assists in taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students and staff, including management student logistics such as students’ movement throughout the building and intake and dismissal. Continually reviews these practices to ensure community is as safe as possible.
7. Possesses program and model knowledge of SESI policies and systems with the ability manage and train other effectively.
8. Supervises assigned staff including documenting their performance, development, training and other issues. Ensures all assigned staff is in compliance with training, credentialing and performance issues are being addressed.
9. Reviews and responds to any escalated student grievances. Identifies patterns or areas of staff training or improvement.
10. Promotes student, school and program success while managing academic, attendance and behavioral needs. Understand the principles of effective classroom management. Understands and supports current curriculum and instructional approaches for students including students with special needs.
11. Cultivates a true “team” environment that promotes a positive caring atmosphere that focuses both on educational success and behavioral management.
12. Responsible for understanding and maintaining compliance of stakeholder’s contract standards. This includes understanding the current contract as it applies to their role, training assigned staff and notifying Director of Operations of any possible infractions.
13. Exhibits professional conduct with school colleagues, students and their parents in accordance with SESI policies, procedures and work rules.
14. Performs other duties as assigned and to be determined based upon SESI needs and business requirements.
Qualifications
Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in education, Criminal Justice, Social Services or related fields- Three years previous experience working with at-risk youth highly preferred, one year required
