Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and comfort
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates with accuracy and attention to detail
- Support nursing staff by preparing patients for examinations or procedures using aseptic techniques and ensuring infection control protocols are followed
- Help with patient transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques to ensure safety for both patients and staff
- Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, especially those with dementia or in memory care units, fostering a caring environment
- Assist with medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper procedures are followed in accordance with medical directives and safety standards
Requirements
- Valid CNA certification recognized by the state or relevant licensing authority
- Experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, or home care settings
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certification
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper lifting practices and manual handling techniques
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and provide excellent patient service
