Job Overview
The Bookkeeper is responsible for managing financial transactions of the company with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. This role supports the accounting operations of the construction business and ensures that all financial data is properly recorded, categorized, and maintained in accordance with company procedures. The Bookkeeper will work closely with management to support financial reporting, job costing, and vendor management while maintaining organized and reliable records.
Key Responsibilities
· Responsible for processing accounts payable by reviewing, coding, and entering vendor invoices into the accounting system
· Preparing and processing weekly check runs and verifying invoice accuracy and approvals.
· Maintains accurate vendor records, including W-9s, certificates of insurance, and contact information.
· Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and vendor statements on a regular basis to ensure all transactions are recorded accurately.
· Assist with job costing by ensuring expenses are coded correctly to jobs and cost codes, allowing for accurate job tracking.
· Generates regular financial reports, accounts payable aging, and accounts receivable aging, for management review.
· Administrative tasks as directed by management
Skills
· Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry.
· A strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and job costing is required.
· Experience with QuickBooks Desktop or similar accounting software is preferred.
· Must demonstrate strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills is required.
· The ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with vendors, project managers, and internal team members is essential.
· Must maintain confidentiality of all financial information and contribute to improving workflows and efficiency within the accounting function
· Experience with Buidlertrend software beneficial but not required
