Job Summary
The Process Engineer supports manufacturing operations by driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, and cost. This position partners with the Production Manager and Production Supervisors to investigate quality issues, improve manufacturing processes, reduce waste and rejects, lead lean manufacturing initiatives, and manage capital improvement projects. The Process Engineer serves as the primary technical resource for problem solving and process optimization within the plant.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (\*Essential Functions)

Core Responsibilities
- Improve manufacturing processes to increase machine efficiency, uptime, and throughput.
- Lead projects to cut scrap, waste, and rework.
- Conduct time studies, line balancing, and maintain SOPs.
- Investigate quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Lead lean initiatives (5S, Standard Work, Kaizen, visual management).
- Support new equipment evaluation, ROI analysis, installation, and startup.
- Create workflow and layout improvements for better operations.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Purchasing, and Shipping.
- Provide technical guidance to supervisors and operators.
- Participate in production meetings and support training efforts.
- Communicate project progress to plant leadership.
Authority & Impact
- Lead improvement projects across shifts and departments.
- Influence production supervisors and hourly teams with technical direction.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
- 3–5 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands on work with process improvement, problem solving, and lean principles.
- Experience with quality investigations and root cause analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Able to interpret data and turn it into practical solutions.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Comfortable working in a union manufacturing environment.
- Solid project management and organizational skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems.
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions
- Frequent exposure to manufacturing conditions including noise, dust, temperature variations, and chemicals (PPE required).
- Regular use of hearing, vision, manual dexterity, and mobility.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move 10–45 lbs occasionally.
