American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Stepdown position at an acute care hospital in West Virginia, requiring telemetry proficiency and a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.

Work setting is an acute care hospital stepdown/med-surg unit (8 East) with 34 beds
-
Stepdown patient ratio is 1:3; floor patient ratio is 1:5-6

Med-surg stepdown patient population with RNs required to titrate drips
-
Telemetry is present on the unit; tele techs post strips each shift, but RNs must be proficient in reading and interpreting telemetry strips
-
Respiratory therapy is available in-house 24/7; ventilators are present on the unit
-
Unit is supported by a charge nurse and transport RN from 7a–7:30p at optimal staffing, plus 2–5 nursing aides

Charting is done in Epic
-
12-hour night shifts (7p–7:30a)

Weekends and holidays required as scheduled

Floating to other areas may be required

13-week contract

Active WV or compact RN license required
-
BLS certification required
-
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

BSN is not required
-
Proficiency in reading and interpreting telemetry strips required

Experience titrating drips required

Driver's license must reflect an address at least 50 miles from the facility

A valid, unexpired driver's license is required for consideration

COVID-19 vaccination required (2-dose Moderna or Pfizer series, or single-dose J&J); medical or religious exemptions may be requested

Royal blue scrubs required

Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before applying
-
Travelers who have worked within the WVU system for a cumulative total of one year must take a 2-year break before returning
-
Candidates may only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time

All candidates interview directly with a unit manager
