We're looking for an experienced pharmacist to join a high-volume, fast-paced independent pharmacy. This role requires keen attention to detail, extensive knowledge of pharmacy compliance, and the ability to manage a large team. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately and safely dispense prescription medications to patients and healthcare professionals, following all legal and ethical guidelines
- Conduct comprehensive medication reviews to assess appropriateness, safety, and effectiveness — evaluating medical histories, allergies, and potential drug interactions
- Provide clear, thorough instructions to patients on proper medication usage, side effects, and precautions; offer guidance on OTC products, healthy lifestyles, and self-care
- Serve as a trusted resource for healthcare professionals and patients, delivering accurate, up-to-date drug information on interactions, dosages, adverse effects, and therapeutic alternatives
- Oversee day-to-day pharmacy operations including inventory management, medication storage, and prescription processing
- Lead, mentor, and manage a large team of pharmacy technicians to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to standard operating procedures
- Communicate directly with medical professionals regarding patients and their medication regimens
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations; maintain patient confidentiality and safeguard controlled substances per established protocols
- Monitor and report adverse drug events and medication errors; participate in medication safety initiatives and quality assurance programs including medication use evaluations and performance improvement activities
- Stay current on the latest advancements in pharmacy practice through continuing education, professional development, and relevant conferences or seminars
- Maintain all necessary certifications, training, and licensure
- Administer immunizations and coordinate off-site clinic events
Qualifications & Requirements
- Active Pharmacy License in the state of employment
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties List
- Immunization Certification through an accredited organization (e.g., APhA)
- Free of pending felony charges or convictions for criminal offenses involving controlled substances
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and standards of practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy in medication dispensing
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Proficiency with pharmacy software systems for order entry and medication verification
