Tax Accountant — AffariTax (44816 S. Grimmer Blvd., Fremont, CA)
Job Type: Full-time Salary: $70,000–$95,000 per year, depending on experience
Are you a tax professional who takes pride in getting the details right and building real relationships with clients? AffariTax is hiring a Tax Accountant for our Fremont office to prepare returns, manage bookkeeping engagements, and guide individuals and small businesses through their tax and financial decisions. If you enjoy client-facing work as much as the technical side of tax, we'd like to meet you.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and review individual (Form 1040) and small business (Schedule C, 1120, 1120-S, 1065) tax returns
- Handle bookkeeping and account reconciliation in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop
- Analyze client financials to uncover tax-saving opportunities and keep filings accurate and compliant
- Maintain client financial records, statements, and supporting documentation
- Meet with clients—in person, by phone, or virtually—to review returns and answer questions
- Track tax law changes and flag what matters to clients and the team
- Respond to IRS and state notices and support clients through audits
- Own client communication end-to-end: gathering information, explaining tax positions, and giving clear, professional guidance
- Juggle multiple client deadlines with ease, especially during tax season
What You Bring
- Hands-on experience preparing individual and small business tax returns
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop
- Solid grasp of individual and small business tax accounting
- Strong Excel and general Microsoft Office skills
- Sharp attention to detail and analytical thinking
- A track record of managing competing deadlines under pressure
- Comfort and confidence explaining tax topics to clients who aren't tax experts
Nice to Have
- CPA or EA license
- QuickBooks certification(s)
- Experience with nonprofit filings (Form 990)
- Experience with trust and estate returns (Form 1041)
- Familiarity with Lacerte Software
