Support a student’s growth and provide essential assistance as a Visually Impaired Support Assistant in a dynamic educational setting. This contract opportunity offers the chance to make a real difference by working one-on-one with a student needing dedicated paraprofessional guidance throughout the school year. You’ll work full-time, Monday through Friday, for 37.5 hours per week, directly supporting a visually impaired student to help them thrive in their educational journey.
Key Qualifications:
- Associate degree or a minimum of 48 semester hours completed (transcript or degree required for application)
- Experience as a paraprofessional in a school setting, especially with 1:1 student support, strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work with students with visual impairments or other special needs
- Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity for patience, empathy, and clear communication
- Reliable, responsible, and able to handle confidential student information appropriately
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide daily, individualized assistance to a visually impaired student under teacher and administrative guidance
- Support academic activities, classroom participation, and non-instructional routines
- Assist with mobility, orientation, and classroom materials adaptations as needed
- Collaborate with educators and specialists to foster an inclusive and accessible learning environment
- Monitor and report student progress, ensuring the student’s safety and comfort
- Maintain accurate records and uphold school policies and standards
