ROLE
The Controller manages the full accounting function, including accounts payable, payroll, loan accounting, month- and year-end close processes and the annual external audit. This role oversees financial journal entries, month-end reconciliations, standard operating procedures, and accurate financial tracking. The Controller ensures the Accounting Department follows established procedures and company policies, maintains compliance with GAAP, and has the appropriate controls and policies in place to support a strong, reliable accounting function.

General Accounting Operations

Oversee and manage all accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Create and manage service level agreements

- Manage the company's cash bank accounts, ensuring bank compliance and monthly bank account reconciliations.

Manage New Markets Tax Credit accounting

Provides day-to-day supervision, training and evaluation for members of the Accounting Department.

Annual Audit Management

Oversee a process for auditor selection.

Manage the audit timeline assuring that deadlines are met.

Oversee the collection of required documentation.

Elevate audit concerns to the CFO.

Provide regular communication to the CFO on the progress of the audit process.

Serve as the main point of contact for the audit team.
GAAP/Accounting Compliance and Controls

Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., GAAP) and relevant regulations.
- Implement and maintain internal financial controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
- Manage internal audits and ensure compliance with audit findings.
Oversee Loan Accounting Function

Manage the invoicing.

Coordinate and maintain loan accounting software including Billing, ACH payment processing, GL accounting, Payment Entry, Late Letters, and Delinquency Reporting.

Ensure Loan/Fee Payments (ACH), Deposits are timely and ensure tracking and accountability.

Manage the Loan Draws/Check request process and ensure tracking and accountability.

Oversee the Help Desk and ensure accountability to service level agreements.

Create and manage service level agreements.

Oversee Loan accounting system TEA and TEA QC for loan closings, transactions and modifications, ensure accurate and timely input.
